COR Program

Certification of Recognition (COR) is Available

The Service & Hospitality Safety Association (SHSA) has worked hard with the Joint Industry Committee and the Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association on a safety program that will be recognized by all industries in Saskatchewan. This will not only help our members to reduce injuries, but allow them to cross over into other industries as well.

Our new program, known as the Certification of Recognition(COR), is now complete and available to any of our members who want to take the next step in safety.

Certificate of Recognition

13 Elements

  1. Health & Safety Policy
  2. Hazard Assessment, Analysis and Control
  3. Safe Work Procedures
  4. Safe Job Procedures
  5. Company Rules
  6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  7. Preventative Maintenance Program
  8. Training and Communication
  9. Inspections
  10. Investigations
  11. Emergency Procedures
  12. Statistics and Records
  13. Legislation

Pre-requisite: Safety Management and Auditor Training (can be completed by a SHSA Safety Advisor at your place of business.)

Certification will be given when all elements of the program have been implemented properly and will be determined by SHSA Safety Advisor through an external audit.

After certification has been achieved, the internal auditor for a company must submit annual internal audits to SHSA showing compliance with the COR program, with the exception of every three years in which SHSA must conduct an external audit.

Many of our members may not be ready or do not feel that this program is for them. Therefore, we will continue to offer our Safety Evaluation which is geared towards members just starting to implement their own safety programs.

If you are interested in either program, we will be pleased to meet with you and explain your options. Our safety training and programs are offered to our members for little or no charge.
