YSED Recap

First off we would like to send a big THANK YOU to all of our partners who helped make Youth Safety Education Day a success!

Big thank you to the Regina & Prince Albert Ranch Ehrlo Societies, The Regina Rainbow Youth Centre, The Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op of Saskatoon, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Saskatoon, The Saskatchewan Liqour and Gaming Authority, The Regina Catholic School Division, Archbishop MC O’Neill Catholic High School, E.D. Feehan Catholic High School of Saskatoon, Marion M. Graham Collegiate in Saskatoon, YMCA, and Eagles Nest Youth Ranch of Saskatoon.

September 10th, 2015 was a huge success!! The packages we sent out to partners reached over 300 youth and we are still getting requests for our packages from educators to use throughout the year. Word of mouth has spread and it seems that everyone has youth safety on their minds. It’s exciting to see how many organizations are committed and enthusiastic about sharing safety information to our youth. This dedication shown by employers, educators and facilitators helps assure us that our youth will be informed and empowered to keep themselves safe in the workplace.

In proclaiming September 10th, 2015 as Youth Safety Education Day, Minister Don Morgan summed the importance of the day up eloquently:
“Youth Safety Education Day is an important way for young people to learn about staying safe at work. We have too many injuries in our province and it is everyone’s responsibility to make safety a priority. Raising awareness is one more way we can help our youth take a leadership role when it comes to safety in the workplace.”
