Alliah Dela Cruz
Why did you choose hospitality?
I chose to pursue a career in hospitality because of the numerous opportunities it offers. I have had the privilege of meeting people from diverse cultures and backgrounds and have even travelled to different countries. I earned a BS Tourism Management degree in my home country, and throughout my journey, I have truly enjoyed being part of the hospitality sector. This is why I am excited to continue my career in this industry, as I want to explore and experience hospitality in Canada.
What are your future goals post-graduation?
My post-graduation goal is to continue working in the hospitality industry, applying the knowledge I’ve gained in class while expanding my expertise through hands-on experience, and to eventually obtain a managerial role.
What will you do to promote Health & Safety in your future job?
I will set a positive example by promoting health and safety in my future job. As a future leader, I aim to be a supportive colleague. I will ensure that all workers receive thorough training on the company’s health and safety policy, safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
Jennyflor Lopez-Villafuerte
Why did you choose hospitality?
I applied to the HRM program because I began my journey in the tourism industry back in the Philippines, and it has since become very close to my heart. I genuinely enjoy providing excellent service, and I find it deeply fulfilling to contribute to creating positive experiences for others.
What are your future goals post-graduation?
My goal is to work my way up to a Sales Manager position and eventually become a General Manager of a hotel here in Saskatchewan. I am committed to continuously learning, growing within the industry, and contributing to the success of the hospitality sector in the province.
What will you do to promote Health & Safety in your future job?
As a starting point, I volunteered to be the representative of my department for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) so I could promote good practices within our team. I am also committed to continuous learning and to being a voice for my team by addressing their safety concerns and ensuring a healthy work environment.
