Another Milestone Year for Youth Safety Education Day – 2025 Recap!
Since 2012, Service Hospitality has proudly led the way in creating a dedicated day to shine a spotlight on youth safety in Saskatchewan. Thirteen years later, Youth Safety Education Day is still going strong, and this year was bigger and more impactful than ever.
We were honoured to partner with the Saskatchewan Roughriders Foundation and welcome Dan Clark, Saskatchewan Roughrider Alumni, as our guest speaker, whose message of Win with Wellness resonated deeply with participants and students. A special thank you goes to Cosmopolitan Industries, our very first member host, as well as Michael A. Riffel Catholic High School and the Regina Catholic School Division for generously opening their doors to us. This year also marked the exciting launch of our new YSED Resource Hub, along with the premiere of the video Your Safety. Your Right. Your Voice., created to inspire future workers to think differently about workplace safety.
Workplace injuries remain a serious risk for young workers in Saskatchewan. On average, about 1 in 10 young workers (aged 14–25) experience a workplace injury every year – roughly 4,000 injuries annually over the past decade. These aren’t just statistics – they are someone’s child, sibling, or friend, whose lives are forever changed.
Young and new workers bring energy, enthusiasm, and fresh perspectives to the workplace, and they are also the most vulnerable to injury, particularly within their first six months on the job. In fast-paced, high-turnover industries like community service and hospitality, the risks are even higher – ensure good supervision and don’t rush training.
This is why Youth Safety Education Day matters. Every year, through the commitment of our partners, schools, members, and community leaders, we continue to educate, spread awareness, build helpful resources, and engage thousands of future workers in meaningful conversations about health, safety and wellbeing. Together, we are changing statistics and protecting the future of our workforce.
2025’s campaign marked another step forward in our mission. Service Hospitality extends our deepest gratitude to all of our sponsors, partners, and special guests who helped make this year’s event a success. Youth Safety Education Day continues to grow and evolve, and we can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.
Here’s to 13 years of impact, and to many more to come.
More Than a Day, It’s a Safety Movement!
At Service Hospitality, we believe our youth aren’t just “Future Workers”, they’re tomorrow’s innovators, leaders, and safety champions. And we’re here to make sure they start their careers ready to work safe, work smart, and work confidently.
Our Future Workers Roadmap keeps safety education going all year long for youth of all ages, well before they step into their first workplace. It’s packed with:
- On-Demand Classroom Presentations that bring safety to life with group discussions using real-life workplace examples
- Toolkits for home, school, and workplace learning
And every September 10th, we celebrate Youth Safety Education Day (YSED), a province-wide event that sparks an entire year of building stronger safety mindsets. Through our presentations, resources, and support, youth gain the skills they need to protect themselves and others, creating confident, safety-aware workers that every employer wants to hire.
This year, the spotlight is on our new Community Message and YSED Resource Page is your go-to hub for joining the movement and spreading the word.
On the page, you’ll find:
- A powerful Community Message ready to share with your networks
- Shareable social media graphics to amplify your voice online
- Printable materials and youth activities
- Inspiring highlights from past YSED celebrations
Help us share the message in Saskatchewan (and beyond!) of youth safety. Share the Community Message on your social media, in your newsletters, or at community events, and don’t forget to tag it with #YSED2025 and #YOUTHSAFETY
Your Safety. Your Right. Your Voice.
